Hello athletes, coaches and athletic directors!
Want to give your athlete their best chance of playing at the next level? Icon Pros Personal Branding can help connect you to collegiate sports programs.
Hello, Sacramento area athletes, coaches and athletic directors!
My name is Jack Arent, and I am a freelance photographer who specializes in Personal Brand portrait lighting & video. What does this mean? In short, we help high school athletes continue their passion for playing sports at the next level, by creating media that clearly introduce themselves to collegiate coaches and athletic directors.
I have been around professional athletes in many situations and have seen a shift in how they grow and maintain their brand.
I have worked for the Golden State Warriors and then the N.B.A. beginning in 2004. Over the last 17 years, I have photographed over 600 NBA basketball games (including the Sacramento Kings) from the baselines, covered nine All-Star Games, six N.B.A. Finals & won a Sports Emmy. In addition to sports photography, I also photograph ten to twenty weddings per year, capturing the most memorable moments of a couple on their special day.
My father inspired me to pursue a career in photojournalism. He was a foreman for the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner, working in the composing room for 29 years. I recall walking through the Chronicle's news room floor with my father at five years old and stopping to observe the photographers inspecting their negatives on a light table. I wondered why they were looking at them so intently, planting the seed in me that I needed to do something meaningful in photography. Before working for the N.B.A. and right out of college I was a photojournalist with the Palo Alto Daily News, you can say those visit to the Chronicle’s news room as a child had an affect on me.
During my college years, I worked as a freelance sign language interpreter for the deaf (deaf parents raised me, or C.O.D.A. for short). I mostly interpreted doctor-patient visits at Kaiser Permanente and Palo Alto Medical Foundation locations around the Bay Area. As a interpreter, I experienced a multitude of exciting experiences. For example, I stood no less than two feet from a surgeon actively operating, facilitated a county jail booking, and went on a rafting expedition on the American River here in Sacramento. I enjoyed my time interpreting over 2,000 assignments during my late teens and twenties; helping to provide the hearing impaired community with equal access to communication always felt like a meaningful service to provide. I am grateful to have been an interpreter, but for me, it was simply that, a meaningful service I provided. As a result of my flexible interpreting schedule, my photography client list grew as I moved on to work for the N.B.A. I found that the high profile N.B.A. assignments I was getting were similar to the interpreting assignments I received, both jobs gave me a reason to be a part of someone else's life for a brief yet essential moment, and it's been a fun ride ever since.
I appreciate the encouragement and connections I have received from the few coaches and high school athletes I have met since moving to the Sacramento area, and I am eager to meet and learn more about the Sacramento sports scene from you all. I am always available, if you’re interested in discussing and learning more about Personal Branding feel free to reach out in the submission field on the Home Page.
